QuizTrail is a location-based quiz application designed to combine geographic exploration with educational challenges. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Data Collection
We collect the following information to facilitate social features, leaderboards, and a personalized experience:
- Email Address: For account authentication and security.
- Username: For public identification on leaderboards.
- Profile Picture: Optional, for personalizing your profile.
2. Location Privacy
QuizTrail requires access to your Precise Location to display nearby quizzes and verify your proximity to quiz objectives.
- Your coordinates are used in real-time to query the local area.
- We do not store your movement history or coordinates permanently on our servers.
- Location access is only required while the app is in use (foreground).
- We do not access location in the background.
3. Authentication & Security
Account security is managed via Google Firebase Authentication.
- We do not store or have access to your raw passwords.
- All data transmission between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS.
4. Third-Party Services
We utilize Google Firebase for:
- Secure database management (Firestore)
- Image hosting (Firebase Storage)
- Real-time synchronization and notifications
5. Advertising
QuizTrail displays advertisements through Google AdMob.
- AdMob may collect device information and advertising ID to serve personalized ads.
- You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings under Google > Ads.
- We do not share your personal data with advertisers.

6. Data Control & Deletion
Your data belongs to you. You can manage or permanently remove your information at any time:
- Account Deletion: Available via the "Edit Profile" section in the app.
- Result: Deleting your account immediately erases your profile, achievements, and score history from our database.
Data Deletion Request (Web-based)
If you wish to delete your QuizTrail account and all associated data (including profile, scores, and quiz history) without using the app, please follow these steps:
- Send an email to: quiztrail.admin@gmail.com
- Subject line: DATA DELETION REQUEST: [Your Username]
- In the body, please include the email address associated with your QuizTrail account.
Your request will be processed, and all data permanently erased from our Firebase servers within 48 hours. You will receive a confirmation email once the process is complete.
